We are passionately dedicated to teaching you the self defense skills to protect you and your loved ones.  Whether you are young or old,  big or small we will help you discover a more powerful you.    The depth of Kokondo  Karate techniques allows  us to tailor your self defense training to your physical abilities.  All attackers are bigger than you, stronger than you and meaner than you.  Our ultimate self defense fighting system will ensure that you will be ready to successfully deal with the horrible confrontations that occur in today’s chaotic society.

Parents we teach your children the appropriate responses to a self defense confrontation and the responsibilities that are associated with our skill.  Our starting age is a mature 13,  an age when youngsters can handle the responsibility that comes with self defense training.   They won’t become bullies,  but be aware that their life confidence will soar.  They will learn and practice the wisdom that rudeness is a weak person’s imitation of strength.

For adults perhaps the best time to start your Kokondo self defense training was 20 years ago.  The next best time is NOW.  We will make the butterflies of taking your first class fly away fast. You will be welcomed into the Columbia Karate family of friends.

Kokondo Karate does not have the baggage of competitive sport karate.   We are pure self defense. Just do your best. You advance at your own pace.   You will work hard but will suffer no injuries.   Every class you will LEARN and have FUN!

We have been continuously teaching Kokondo Karate longer than any other martial arts school in the area.  We have seen all the fads come and go.   Kokondo translates as “The Way of the Past and Present”.    Over the years we have adjusted the past’s depth of dynamic technique to successfully  deal with the self defense threats of today.

We have honed our ability to understand and successfully deal with the psychology of the threat escalation of a potential confrontation.  This critical self defense skill is missing from most martial arts schools.  This can result in you getting the horrible scars of being a victim along with all the would-a, could-a and should-a nightmares.

We train you to be proactive, mentally prepared,  manage stress and teach you how to de-escalate a threat. How to detect the point when de-escalation is futal and an attack is imminent.  This is the critical tipping point moment that is too often missed, drastically increasing your danger.  You will learn when it’s time for “Go time self defense”,  go-no-sen (attack the attack) in Japanese.  You will gain the confidence that comes with no longer being defenseless.

There are very few good reasons to get into a fight, but there are no reasons to lose one.  Come and enjoy the Columbia Karate fun.
